Ear Aesthetics

Ear aesthetics, also known as otoplasty, is a surgical procedure in which the cartilages are shaped to give the ear a natural and less noticeable appearance. This procedure is performed by intervening in the ear with small incisions suitable for its own curves. It aims to achieve a more natural shape by providing balance and proportion between the ear and face. Plastic surgery is a procedure performed to improve the shape, size, position or proportion of the ears. Prominent ear deformities that develop especially due to genetic factors are corrected with otoplasty. Prominent ear surgery can positively affect the psychological health of the person, especially in children, this may be more pronounced.

How is Ear Aesthetics Performed?

An incision of approximately 3 cm is made behind the ear.
The ear cartilage is given the desired shape and its position is fixed with permanent stitches.
The final stage of the surgery involves re-suturing the incision.
Since self-melting threads are used, it is not necessary to remove the stitches.
The operation is performed under local anesthesia and usually takes 30 minutes to 2 hours.
The patient is discharged the same day.
In an average of 5 days, the patient can return to his/her daily life.
After about 20 days, the new shape of the ear will be established.
For the first 3 months after surgery, the ear should be carefully protected from impacts.
